We live in a world where we are accustomed to being connected at all times. It’s almost impossible to go out without wanting to have Internet anywhere that we go. The City of Calgary recognized the need to help Calgary communities stay connected, and has further enhanced its commitment by recently expanding public wifi access to 27 Calgary Recreation locations across the city.
As part of the city’s partnership with Shaw Communications, it’s not just recreation centers where Calgarians can get wifi. Over 40 city facilities, including arenas, golf courses and CTrain stations offer public wifi.
What do citizens in Calgary think about the service? The numbers make it abundantly clear. Since The City of Calgary, in association with Shaw Communications, launched the public wifi service in 2013, over 3 million connections have been made to the public wifi service.
