Is building your own home something you’ve been dreaming of for a long time? Maybe you’ve thought about what the décor will look like, or how your family will live in the place you’ve created in your mind. Perhaps you’ve also wondered if it’s a process you are ready to take on.
Since buying a home is one of the largest investments any of us will make in our lives, it’s natural to have lots of questions. Asking questions of potential builders from the get-go, from what working together will look like, to finding out how the process works and who is responsible for what, will help you find a builder that works for you.
In this series, we’re going to cover a range of questions to help you in your journey and find the right builder to turn that dream home you’ve imagined into a reality.
Our first question is essentially a gut check, and something you should ask yourself when you’re getting started.
Question #1: Do I like this builder?
It may seem like an odd question, but it’s an important one. On-going contact with your builder is a part of building a new home throughout the course of the build and after you’ve moved into your home. It’s important to know you can talk to your builder freely and build a rapport with them.
Liking and trusting a builder will go a long way to establishing a friendly and honest relationship with them.
